Godly wife.jpg

Dear Family & Friends:

The Bible tells us that an excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who shames him is rotten in his bones (Proverbs 12:4).  Sarah, Abraham’s wife, has always struck me as being cranky and bossy.  Job’s wife offered little comfort in the midst of his trials.  Today, many wives are also very cranky, bossy, offering little comfort and understanding in all areas of life.  They don't get along with their husbands.  They argue almost every day and say mean hurtful things to each other.  They humiliate and harass their husband.

Q265:  What does it mean to be a godly wife?

A265:  "A wife of noble character who can find?  She is worth far more than rubies.  Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.  She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life." ~ Proverbs 31:10-12. "She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue." ~ Proverbs 31:26. "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." ~Proverbs 31:30.

A godly wife is, first and foremost, a woman who fears God.  She is characterized as a woman of wisdom and grace.  She honors her husband, is truly faithful, and helps him.  She is forgiving, humble, kind and compassionate, honest, and truthful.  She exercises self-control and has a gentle tongue.  She is willing to admit that she is wrong.

Today's Prayer

Lord, we pray that You help women in today's world to be good wives.  Please take their selfishness, impatience, and irritability, and turn them into kindness and willingness to bear all things.  In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

God bless,
