Meet Soeum Johnson

At the age of nine, Soeum and her family left their native country Cambodia and arrived in the United States sponsored by Christian missionaries. Upon arriving, however, life proved to be arduous. In fact, they were immediately interjected into a new culture and faced the difficulty of a language barrier: that gave them unforgettable feelings of alienation. However, despite the disparity, Soeum's determination propelled her to achieve her education, goals and dreams.

Soeum began singing, though, at the age of nine, and by the time she became an adult landed a position in IGO's (International Gospel Outreach) choir in Smyrna, Georgia. She was born and raised, however, in the Buddhist religion, a tenet embedded in her by her parents. But, when Soeum reached the age of eighteen, a Cambodian friend introduced her to Jesus, whom she accepted as her Lord and personal Savior and sealed the promise to serve Him forever.

For all that, Soeum believes all of God's children, regardless of their age, race, or color, are destined for great things. Moreover, she is cognizant of her purpose as a Christian here on earth. Namely, to worship God, live a holy life, and spread the good news of the Gospel of Christ to all those who are lost. Truly, she hopes to use her passion for singing as an evangelical vehicle to bring souls to Christ.

Although storms, trials and hard times flooded her way in all directions, she has overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and by the word of her testimony. Because of this, "I owe my life, soul, body, spirit, mind, health and prosperity to Jesus....If it had not been for God on my side, where would I be?"

(Soeum Johnson).
